WIKIPEDIA:
The Ponte della Maddalena, also known as Ponte del Diavolo, is a bridge over the river Serchio near the town of Borgo a Mozzano in the Italian province of Lucca.

According to the legend, Matilda of Canossa, Countess of Tuscany, should have led the construction.
The bridge was built from 1052 until 1115 and was part of which took advantage of via Francigena, the pilgrims on their way from Swiss francs to Rome to the tomb of the Apostles Peter and Paul.
An arch on the Western side had to be accompanied by the construction of the railway line Lucca-Aulla at the beginning of the 20th century. The bridge Board has another survey there ever since, to allow a passage of the railway.
Data
