The bridge carries Bowmanstrasse, which was called Lützner Strasse until 2016 and is part of Federal Highway 87, over the (Little) Luppe River. It was built between 1973 and 1975 along with this street and is named after the Palmengarten, a neighboring park. The Lindenau Weir is located directly behind the bridge.
