The "mathematical bridge" crosses the river cam in Cambridge on the grounds of Queens College. The wooden arch bridge was originally built in 1749. The current building was rebuilt in 1905.<br><br>According to legend, the original bridge of the British scholar Isaac was designed Newton and - supposedly built without screws and nails. The pieces of wood should be together were wedged only according to logical (mathematical) laws.<br><br>Later the bridge by students and professors to into their individual parts have been disassembled and examined. The renewed construction of the bridge in the same technique was however unsuccessful. Bolts and nuts have must be used for the rebuild then.
