The Kampmann Bridge was built in 1895 as a pontoon bridge. In 1943, it was swept away and destroyed by flooding (the blowing up of the Möhne Dam). It was then temporarily rebuilt and rebuilt in its current form in the early 1950s.

Since 2016, it has been replaced by a new cable-stayed bridge. The new structure is scheduled for completion by 2018.
