Due to structural damage, only one side of the bridge can be used in both directions. Complete demolition of the bridge is planned when a new bridge is built at the same location in successive superstructures. Helmut Fischer

Visit to the bridge on December 6, 2017: All traffic on the eastern superstructure is restricted to a maximum speed of 10 km/h. Exceptions apply only to pedestrians and cyclists on the western superstructure. The replacement of the entire bridge has been initiated by reconstructing the utility lines. The images from December 6, 2017, only show this state. The ongoing work is being monitored and will be gradually posted here. Helmut Fischer The demolition of the first western superstructure of the bridge has begun. The images from May 24, 2018, demonstrate this work. Helmut Fischer The dismantling of the western superstructure is essentially complete. This complexity is still missing from the old central island. The work on the construction site is primarily in the preparatory phase for the first superstructure. A large number of sheet pile walls were constructed on the north side to ensure that the rigidity between the old and new superstructure in the area of the dams on the north side does not give way. Anchors from the central sheet pile wall were installed into the subsoil facing east. This went well for quite some time until a power line was damaged. The damage to the line led to a power outage in the Köpenick district, affecting outlying districts as well. This situation has now been going on for two or three days. Because the emergency power supply at Köpenick Hospital also failed, many people had to be relocated to other hospitals in the city, and many more people were affected by the power outage. I photographed the situation at the construction site again today and am showing it again with new pictures here, but also under BAS number 93464. Helmut Fischer on February 20, 2019 Visit to the construction site on August 14, 2019: The western superstructure was above the pillars and only needed to be lowered. Therefore, there is only vertical transport, and then the equipment with paint and asphalt, as well as the two ramps, can be installed to open the first superstructure to traffic.
