Center (Alt-Berlin/Friedrichswerder), crosses the Kupfergraben (spree Canal) and connects the road the Schlossplatz under den Linden.

Created according to plans by Karl Friedrich Schinkel 1821-1824, the bridge received its name at the laying of the foundation stone on 29 5 1822. The outer of the three stone arches inserted per 11,20 m width, which was average of 7.64 m wingspan 1912 instead of 8 bridges flaps. Schinkelsche cast iron reliefs adorn the railing and the balustrades carry on both sides four granite postamente. Schinkel had earmarked as a bridge jewelry copper work, showing the life and martyrdom of a warrior. This plan could not be realised considering the empty state coffers. After a competition, the sculptures were first created and set up between 1842 and 1853. The eight white, each about 3m high figures made of Carrara marble stand on high gray marble pedestals, which are medallions with Eagle motifs.

1 Group: Nike taught the boy in history, in 1847 led by Emil Wolf (1802-1879).

2.
