The bridge was rebuilt in 1949 using a section of Cologne's Hohenzollern Bridge. Both bridges were blown up by the Wehrmacht at the end of World War II. The section was sold for 100,000 marks (some sources report that it was exchanged for iron ration cards). The bridge was demolished on the last weekend of January 2024.
