The Gänstor Bridge is scheduled to be demolished and rebuilt starting in mid-2024. From the tender documents: Demolition and reconstruction of the Gänstor Bridge, including the dismantling of the adjacent supporting structures, the pedestrian and cycle path underpass, and the staircase. The prestressed concrete bridge from the early 1950s has a superstructure length of approximately 96 m and a width between the railings of approximately 18 m. The new bridge is planned as an integral structure with a steel composite construction. The span measures 86.50 m and the bridge width is 23.50 m to 24.70 m. The abutments are reinforced concrete structures with large bored piles. The retaining walls will have shallow foundations. Dismantling is planned using a launching rig and auxiliary supports on a pre-filled section of the Danube. The previously constructed river piers will be used. For the excavations of the substructures, retaining walls made of anchored and stiffened sheet piles and bored pile walls are to be constructed. An inspection for explosive ordnance is required. The steel superstructure will be constructed at a remote pre-assembly site, transported to the construction site, and lifted into place there.
