Between 1827 and 1830, the old trade route, which had led over the Hube for centuries, was rerouted via Kuventhal, and the high bridge over the Krummen Wasser valley was built. It was inaugurated on October 2, 1830, and named after Duke William of Cambridge. In 1955/56, a modern two-level bridge was constructed because the so-called Wilhelmsbrücke (William's Bridge) could no longer cope with the increased traffic on Federal Highway 3.
