The bridge was Cöllnische bridge was first mentioned in 1240.

(Info from www.luise-berlin.de :))
Center (old Cölln), spans the river Spree Canal between Getraudenstraße and Spittelmarkt. The old G. built Otto Stahn (1859-1930) 1894-95. The construction covered with Basalt lava bridges the 18 m wide spree arm to a width of 14 m. In the Northern parapet on high pedestal is a hiker a trunk reaching to the memory of the 1871 discontinued Gertraud hospital the statue of Saint Gertrude. The larger than life figure of medieval dressed bridges by Rudolf Siemering was cast in bronze in Lauchhammer. Makeshift repairs after destruction in the second world war, the bridge was repaired extensively in 1954 and installed the restored Gertraud plastic. 1977 were built parallel to her an unadorned steel bridge with a width of 33.50 m, a length of 38 m and 8 lanes for vehicle traffic. The old G. is since then reserved for pedestrians. At the same location before the Gertraud gate (Teltow), a wooden pile bridge with 3 doors and stone pillars of country, the Cöllnische was already since the 13th century bridge. 1738/39 Titus de Favre (d. 1745) built the 8.50 m wide wooden bascule bridge with train - and counterweights, which was 1878/79 by means of double-sided 3 m wide iron footstraps adapted to the traffic and last in 1886 by fold-out gain for the horse set up. The old G. stands under monumental protection.
