<br>in 1895, the bridge with three arches of larger was rebuilt and renamed at the rededication of the bridges monument on May 9, 1896 in elector bridge. It allowed the new wide main street, the King's road now also the unhindered continuation. This road began on the right directly behind the bridge with the No. 1 and marked the entrance to the old Berlin City Centre. Structurally the bridge design was the predecessor bridge, stone brick vault with superior sandstone were elected and the place for the statue was retained. She now had a ten metre wide roadway and on both sides the 3.90-meter-wide sidewalks.<br><br>At the end of the second world war, the elector bridge suffered severe damage by blasting the Wehrmacht only stood still the centerpiece. Since the City Hall bridge is again reserved only the pedestrian and bicycle traffic, as it is officially called since 1951.
