    The first bridge at this location was built in 1933 and blown up in 1945. After the war, the bridge was rebuilt from the rubble around 1950 and named the "Bridge of Friendship" (to the Soviet Union). This name is still used today. The current bridge was built in 1996, and rail traffic across it began in 1999/2000.
