The road bridge over the Emscher River at kilometer 36.819 in Recklinghausen was built in 1911 by the Emschergenossenschaft (EG). The bridge spans approximately 27.0 m and is approximately 14.5 m wide. The bridge is a steel truss structure with two underslung truss arches. Steel corrugated plates are attached to the longitudinal and transverse girders. These are designed as so-called "hanging corrugated plates" with a downward bulge and a drainage hole.
brings The steel truss structure rests on two concrete abutments made of unreinforced rammed concrete with facing brickwork and reinforced facing panels. The bridge was designed for bridge class 30 according to DIN 1072.
The bridge underwent comprehensive refurbishment in 2000/2001. The superstructure, including the waterproofing layer and railings, was completely rebuilt, and the corrosion protection of the steel components of the superstructure and the bearings was completely renewed. The object-specific damage assessment of the steel structure of the superstructure, carried out in 2024, revealed that the secondary girder in the first end section on the east side in front of the north abutment is weakened in cross-section due to corrosion and must be repaired using steel construction techniques.
