The Weir is normally closed and the flooding of the Elbe River first flows into the Elbe at Magdeburg and ensures thus the shipping on the town.Further increasing level, and if no other water masses can be recorded here at the military service, opened the Pretziener Weir, and thus the broad Elbe Valley used to absorb of water in motion.See also notes on E@i
