The A72 was equipped only with two lanes until 1939 from Zwickau to Plauen, where the bridges were built with one exception for the 4 stripe-traffic. After the turn there many fatal traffic accidents due to the strong increase of traffic, until then in 1992 started the expansion. The existing overpasses were not designed, 4 lanes plus hard shoulder on the new motorway cross section- or new to build were space structures. At the Valley bridge was on the existing superstructure in the built a new tensioning concrete superstructure pushed. First on the unused portion, then the old road was demolished and also with a new superstructure replaced.
