WIKIPEDIA:<br>The real reason for the delay of the connecting line of the viaduct amounted to Warburg. Since starting in 1848, it was considered necessary to restore the viaduct over the Diemel near Warburg [1] specifically for rail transport. The mostly foreign shareholders in the railway company were not ready at that time to raise additional capital for the restoration, especially since at this time the value of many stocks of industrial companies had fallen. The Commerce Department decided a sum available to make the construction of the viaduct could be executed. In February 1851, a locomotive over the viaduct was driving for the first time, second months later the operation over the viaduct passed the railway.
