Information by Heidi Zahir:

In the year 1997, which was built about LEADER II funded foot and cycle path bridge closes a gap in the cross-border cycle route network. At the point where the modern bridge was built, there was a wooden bridge, allowing the management of the fields on the other side of the Werra the peasants of the village since 1895. The annual spring floods washed away most of the time the old jetty and the villagers built him anew every year. In 1976 the bridge was not rebuilt then disrepair. Old, traditional ties were interrupted as a result. It was only the prospect of a new bridge for all. Only in 1994 were first starts of a new development in the field of recreation and tourism. The ideas and plans for the project were progressing rapidly, but lacked it, as so often, the necessary money. The EU community program LEADER II to the development of rural areas was there. The idea of the new "linkage" as a link on the Werra Valley cycle path was well received by the local action group Wartburgkreis district. With a construction an imposing structure for a common future was made of wood and steel and a span of 50 meters here.
