    The bridge is completed though, the completion of the baseboard, but is delayed by several years.
 
 WIKIPEDIA: The Itztalbrücke is a railway bridge in Bavaria between the towns of Rödental and Dörfles-Esbach lying, that spans the Valley of the ITZ with the Coburg Sun Mountain Railway and the Duke way. It is part of the planned, 107 km long high-speed rail line Ebensfeld-Erfurt. The bridge of the motorway A 73 runs at a distance of approximately 25 meters on the southern side parallel to the railway bridge.
 The line is curved with a design speed of 300 km/h in the building field, the gradient falls towards the North with 12.5 per thousand. The bridge obtained later acoustic screen slab track with 4.5 meter track spacing as well as areas on both sides with the capacity expansion of 2.0 metres above sea level. The Rails will be maximum of 31 metres above the valley floor. The construction costs amounted to EUR 18 million. Construction began in 2002. The bridge, as the first building in the southern section of the line, was completed in November 2005. Since then, the bridge through grid against unauthorised access is locked.
 The building is based on 142 Großbohrpfählen with 1.2 meters in diameter and maximum lengths of 30 meters the pillars of the bridge have a rectangular steel section concrete hollow with broken edges and rejuvenate with a suit of 70:1 upwards.
 The 15-fürstenmoor railway bridge has a total length of 868 metres. The spans of the two edge fields 57.0 meters, the 13 inner fields ever 58.0 metre span have. The 6.5 metre-high superstructure is designed as composite construction and consists of two pfostenlosen Struts trusses made of steel with a top up to 45 cm thick steel concrete slab. After two fields, an expansion joint (two-field winner) is arranged, in the middle of the bridge, there is a section with three fields. The deck is 14.1 meters wide, the trusses have a distance of 6.8 Meter.Die deck is equipped with a free-standing connection reinforcement for the later installation of slab track.
 The railway bridge made headlines after its completion as an example of the waste of public funds. The bridge is stated also in the black book of 2006 of the Federal of taxpayer.
 Critics charge that was unlikely to occur before 2015 - given the investments planned for 2006 more later - with the completion of the new line, so for at least ten years no train will drive on the bridge. However still investments amounting to more than EUR 2 billion are needed to complete the new line between Ebensfeld and Ilmenau (approximately 77 km) (Status: 2006).
 As an argument for the up-front was stated, that the railway and highway bridge in the bundling section are so close together that a later construction of the railway bridge would be technically difficult.
 Whether and in what order of size really is a waste of tax money, it will depend how quickly the entire route can be completed.
 By locals, the Itztalbrücke due to the lack of use is often referred to as a "Soda bridge".
