    On March 14, 1945, at 16:28, a "Grand Slam" detonated bomb (English 10 t bomb) West of the viaduct above the Valley Bridge Road. This bomb left a huge crater depth and diameter of 60 m by 18 m. 6 Pillars were destroyed by the pressure waves. These were later replaced by a concrete solution.<br>Parallel, a tensioning concrete girder bridge was built.
