Replacement construction planned from summer 2019 `br>Strassen.NRW: The bridge over the Lippe River between Bergkamen and Werne was built in 1942. Strassen.NRW has, among other things, renewed sections of the roadway on the bridge in 2001 and secured a torn-off cantilever beam (the part of the bridge on which the roadway rests) in 2006.` During an inspection in 2012, significant damage was discovered, primarily to the bridge's steel structure, leading to the immediate closure of the pedestrian and bicycle path on the eastern side of the bridge.` `br>` ``` ``` ``` The new bridge will be widened to provide space for a left-turn lane heading south. Additionally, a pedestrian crossing aid will be built on the north bank, which will make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the B233 at this point. According to the latest traffic count, the bridge is used by approximately 20,000 vehicles daily, of which about three percent are heavy goods vehicles, i.e., trucks or buses.
