Construction site
The photos from October 25, 2018, show the initial work on this new bridge. On the south bank of the Spree River, at the new structure on the west side, the column reinforcement was formed and photographed shortly before the first concrete pour. This is shown here as the first document. Helmut Fischer, October 25, 2018

The first superstructure was slid into place from the southwest over the first span. First photos of this are from May 22, 2019.

Visit to the construction site on August 14, 2019: The western superstructure was positioned above the piers and only needed to be lowered into place. Therefore, only vertical transport is possible, and then the equipment, including paint and asphalt, as well as the two ramps, can be installed to open the first superstructure to traffic.

Visit to the bridge on November 20, 2019: Two days before the commissioning of the western superstructure, there are still some finishing touches being made, but these will not prevent its usability in two days. Traffic will be routed across the bridge in one lane at a time and will be connected to the ramps of the old bridge, so that the corresponding ramps can still be constructed. Pedestrian access will also be guaranteed. The citizens who particularly value the southeast of the city will look forward to the reopening with joy. Helmut Fischer
Visit to the bridge on November 22, 2019. The opening time had been announced for 4 p.m. today, but by 2:30 p.m. there was already traffic on the western overpass. Seven pictures of this situation were posted here. Helmut Fischer at 3:37 p.m.
Unfortunately, four months after the completion of the western overpass, the underground construction in the ramps is still not finished, and traffic in Berlin-Köpenick is still severely disrupted. In four months, it would have been possible to achieve the final state there. I hope for a faster completion of the partial work. Helmut Fischer on March 11, 2020
