The legendary flood of 1784 also destroyed this bridge on February 27th. The "Sespruck" is already mentioned at this location in 1312; the first pictorial representation of the "Sespruck" appears in 1602 on the Bamberg view by the surveyor Petrus Zweidler. Other bridges at this location: wooden bridge from 1809; Ludwigsbrücke from 1829 (modeled after the Brooklyn Bridge); iron arch bridge from 1829; frame bridge (called "Kettenbrücke") from 1953; and finally the New Kettenbrücke (BAS 10649).
