I-10 bridge could open in 24 days; Escambia River Bridge in 5
The state Department of Transportation has awarded Gilbert Southern Corp. of Sunrise, Fla., a .5 million constrcution contract to repair the twin bridges that connects Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. The contractor has 24 days to repair and open the westbound bridge to two-way traffic. Work begins Saturday.
They will have an additional 90 days to repair and open the eastbound bridge to traffic.
Gilbert is the contractor for the Cervantes Street Bridge project in downtown Pensacola.
Gilbert also received a ,000, three-day contract to restore the Pensacola Bay Bridge to traffic.
Escambia River Bridge could be repaired in five days
Repairs to the U.S. 90 Escambia River Bridge, west of Pace, have been awarded to Anderson Columbia for 2,000. The contractor has five days to make repairs to the road and bridge approaches and restore it to four lanes of traffic.
